Politics,damn politics

Subject: Politics, damn politics.
One of the problems highlighted by Brexit is the high opinion politicians, from all sided and all nationalities have of each other in the sense that they would let their personal prejudice get in the way of the well being of the people they are supposed to represent.
It's as if this highly tuned political process has become the only oxygen they breath and that the political bubble which sits in Westminster, Brussels, Paris, Berlin or in any of the national parliamentary capitals produces an over riding sense of self important, resistant  or worse, indifferent to the needs of the common man and woman.
Common sense is not nearly enough to move the politician to commit to a course of action, instead the political calculus comes into play with votes and Party affiliation holding sway to the detriment of the nation.
As we emerge from another meeting in Brussels of  'heads of state', that ring of senior politicians who hold all our futures in their often prejudiced hands their deliberations are announced to the masses much as the Roman emperor would decree the slave to be eaten by the lion.
The cliff edge is moved a few centimetres further away whilst we are assailed by stories of crisis and tremendous disruption following the morning after the night before.
It's as if the 40 years of walking the same road, wearing with the same clothing, following the same safety procedures and taking instructions from the same team leader meant nothing. The planes won't fly, the trucks will grind to a halt, all communication regarding security comes to a halt.
'Give me a break' this is all political, it's in the gift of man unfortunately the political man. We are not Mongolians only used to Yurts and Yaks, we have hand in hand developed the same concern for standard, our pilots are no less able to fly their planes, or the traffic controllers less able to speak to each other. There is absolutely no reason why a scientific project can't continue to the common benefit to each side. There is no reason why our police forces can't share information on terrorists or criminals since its in our common interest to ensure we continue to collaborate. If we had the political will, tariff barriers need not rise on March the 30th if the cross boarder trade is in equilibrium and there are markets which benefit either side of a boarder. Over time protection might be sort to prevent substandard goods gaining entry into Europe through the back door of a perfidious Albion with its links to that dodgy cousin America but these decisions come into force as and when required.
Politics is the only hurdle to a relatively harmonious Brexit, only politics can seek to make things difficult.  Those Armani suites and firm handshakes, the false smiles and  the joviality which hides the deep felt spite are the political accruements which blight the world and the common  people living their lives to a far more moral and ethical set of social criteria.
