Does it really matter

Subject: Does it really matter.

Does it really matter ?
Does it matter if we fail in our negotiations with the Europeans and we take an economic hit which will effect the living standards of many in our society.
Does it matter if we lose the BBC to commercialism and have to either pay a subscription fee as well as watch half of any television viewing dedicated to adverts.
Does it matter that our NHS is taken more in line with the American system of health care.
Does it matter that on leaving the EU we become more pragmatic towards having clean air or water and that we relax the regulations on raising animals destined for the food chain.
Does it matter that the unemployed and destitute have their lives made harder.
Perhaps not especially if you carry your emotions in a bubble of self achievement where your attainment is personal and lacks a sense of social responsibility.
Perhaps not if your sense of self is tied up in jingoistic rhetoric and you have been convinced of your own or your nations superiority, where even the statistics tell you that the country is essentially flabby these days lacking the grit of yesteryear.
Perhaps if our lads and lasses were less inclined to be celebrities and measured their worth in the hours they were prepared to work, grafting, irrespective of the job in hand.
The economic landscape is changing Year on Year. The introspection foisted on America has broken the mould of an international awareness in so far as collaboration is concerned with the catchword, "America First" and I believe we are in for a nasty shock when we try to build economic bridges with them since everything will be very much on their terms and not ours.
The other major economic power, China has none of the characteristics we aline with and their search for domination through their economic and financial clout bears ill for much of what we say is intrinsically at the root of our core values. Their human rights and the poor record in workers protection make anything we might wish to share a joint venture in, very problematic.
Perhaps under Boris where, with his massive majority, he rules with impunity and can therefore cut and slash to his hearts content with little to fear that the Opposition will make any difference, perhaps with the fetters off and an ideological free for all in which only business profits truly prosper my friend who are still waving their flags will wake up in this new world and realise some of the cherished things they have willingly given away.
