A special night of Strictly

Subject: A special night of Strictly

Although I'm a fan of ballroom dancing, 'Strictly' the glitzy dance extravaganza on the BBC used to be my go to program but it became too much of a celebrity feeding spot which incidentally  I am in awe of the way celebs become such prolific dancers. The excitement, the timing and the rhythm of people who choose to dance has always drawn me since I loved to dance traveling into Bradford on a Friday or Saturday night to go to the Mecca Locarno and invest in my sense of myself by swirling a girl around the dance floor to the exciting sound of Joe Loss. To those of you who have never enjoyed the excitement of ballroom dancing where men and women actuate their marvellous differences by recognising their need for each other. The chemistry between a boy and girl is largely sexual but sexual attraction does not always mean the sexual act but includes the fundamental attraction which is so special and quite unique in our contrived social experience. Dancing is one of those coming together moments which provide a special bond as one sways to the music in unison with a partner.
Last night in the Strictly show a lady who is deaf and couldn't hear the music, danced so beautifully that it brought such emotional acclaim from the judges who recognise the deep gulf that a lack of music brings when coordinating  ones movement with your partners. My experience of dancing is that, as one partner leads the other, the bodies moulded, each timing their steps by the pressure of ones lead. The choreography between the two was beautiful, she emphasising, more than usual the need for the man to lead in dance, she so pliant as she gazed at him in the old fashioned symbolism of strength meets a deeper feminine  subtlety and as she swirled around him in a loverly exhibition of 'yin meets yang', one wished only for those Friday nights to return.
