Universal humanity

Subject: Universal humanity.

Why have immigrants gained such kudos in our society whilst at the same time the concept of the rights of the 'indigenous person' is ridiculed  and told that their claim to nationhood is out of fashion. It's strange how the temperament of a nation changes or is induced to change by the movers and shakers in the society who control the levers of power and are ably supported by the press and the media. A new fashion is created manufactured and backed by an intellectual unwillingness to support what were the traditionally established  'mores' or norms within a society and exchanged for a new way of thinking which precludes much of the rational thinking we used to hold.
The world has always been a place of never ending conflict based on land and ownership. Nationalism and the belief that kith and kin mean more than the thesis that because we are all human beings this somehow trumps our sense of family. Our cultural ties even our religious affiliations are but nothing when compared to that amorphous concept, humanitarianism.
If I wish to care for strangers like I care for my family then a strange metamorphosis comes over me  and the principles which bind us into groups of recognisable entities with common histories, of which I see myself a part of, breakers down into a series of unknowns. The assumptions I make of a society and the chances I take, are modified by my knowledge of the people and of course It’s a two way street as I myself am recognised on assumptions made about me and importantly this is not a racial thing since ones trust can reside in anyone so long as they are known.
The humanitarian definition leads us to assume that every stranger is a potential friend just so long as you invest the time to get to know them and whilst potentially this is true and noble, there are barriers, habits, beliefs, which set us apart and whilst one can surmount many of these differences they lie like a submerged reef just waiting to snag you when you least expect it.

The thought that a man born and brought up in China or Japan thinks like I do is fanciful.
The habits of a life time play against this, the culture, the religious beliefs, habits born of a social environment very different to mine play against this concept of common communality. The idea that because we are similar, anatomically assumes we are the same is plain fanciful.
The push for "Global Man and Woman" was born of the need to establish closer ties between the global markets and the integration of the worlds economies "globalisation". It's a manufactured concept in which people are grafted into a most unlikely uniformity, counting heads not hearts. The pressure to bridge the continents in supply chains ignores the concept of individuality and century old traditions. It bashes down the doors of refined oral history and heritage it ignores the lore and folklore for an economic advantage, an advantage not for the invaded but for the invader. The world wide upheaval of people seeking the same, leaving their own society to settle in a foreign one in the hope that over time elements of home will arrive (people from our towns and villages) in the new environment, has plagued the counties who are deemed a better place to be economically. The commonality of the dollar and its mythical purchasing power, along with the supposed happiness which is presumed but found wanting once the move is made, uproots millions and presents unfathomable problems for the incumbent native who's lifestyle is forever changed.
It was never in the genes of the decision makers to worry about the poor, they would adapt or die as they always have. 'Swamping', (a phrase so feared by those in power since it was derided as being akin to being racial), of established communities by the influx of so many people into their midst was a price worth paying since the people who might be described as the Establishment were removed from the common man anyway. Condemnation in any shape or form of reasoned objection was deemed racist, a term which grew in stature alongside its twins, misogynistic and homophobic as being no go areas to the point that debate is smothered for fear of labelling.
We are losing our identity without first understanding what we are losing. We are encouraged to believe that our identity can be merged and modified with what ever comes along since the cult of universal humanity sees no difference.
